INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIC MOVEMENT AND WORLD POLITICAL PHENOMENA («THE FIGHT OF TWO POLES»)

Abstract: the article discusses the confrontation of the International Olympic Movement in a clash with political phenomena occurring in the world of politics. Concrete examples of the confrontation of political phenomena, the desire to intervene in the International Olympic Movement are given. The author refers to various decisions of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to limit the influence of the political environment on decisions in the field of Olympic sports. Political situations, that have taken place are analyzed using concrete examples of various Olympic Games, and clippings from the Olympic Charter and IOC Executive Committees are given. The author (Kruglik I.I.) cites as an example the lecture he attended in St. Petersburg, on the relationship between Politics and Sport, a famous sports functionary, and the President of the British Olympic Association.
