THE PHENOMENON OF COPING BEHAVIOR OF PARENTS RAISING CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES IN MODERN PSYCHOLOGICAL SCIENCE

Abstract: the family, like a person, is the main value of the state, and it is considered in the article. The decline in the social value of certain categories of families in a life-threatening situation, for various reasons, limits the disclosure of human potential. In such a situation, a complex of problems arises, among which the most significant is that the individual does not realize his potential, and society is deprived of a huge potential for its own development, unjustifiably reducing the social status of individual groups or categories of citizens. Unfortunately, this attitude towards citizens is observed on the part of society in relation to many categories of disabled people, including children with disabilities.

The purpose of this article is to study the influence of the development of personal resources (reflexivity, motivation to achieve goals, life orientations) on the formation of coping behavior strategies of parents raising children of primary school age with disabilities.

Parents who raise children with disabilities, trying to overcome negative social attitudes and other “special” problems, exhaust their own adaptive reserve and become unable to educate effectively. The consequence of this situation is that the parents themselves become an obstacle to the harmonious maturation and successful socialization of a disabled child.

That is why at the present time, an actual scientific and practical problem is both the study of the possibilities of developing resources for coping behavior of parents of children with disabilities, and the study of the characteristics of such parents for subsequent effective psychological assistance and social protection.
