Abstract: the article discusses the aspects of studying the history and culture of the people. It reveals the features of the current stage of development of Russian education, which is characterized by the need to move to one of the main areas, namely the recognition of the values of ethnic culture in the process of personality formation. It is emphasized that globalization allows peoples to interact closely with each other, intercultural contacts contribute to the rapprochement of peoples, and at the same time, intercultural interactions lead to the erasure of cultural differences, the loss of cultural identity. The subject of the study is the substantiation of the principles, methods and aspects of ethnoculture based on the categories of ethnic values in the educational system.
